My Approach

Specialising in supporting children, young people and families

I take a creative approach to engage children and young people in therapy and address their mental health difficulties. I understand that each child is unique, and their journey to emotional wellbeing may require different approaches including the use of visuals, drawing, diagrams, stories, journaling, video-clips, and multi-media elements. My sessions involve open and empathetic dialogues, where children, young people or parents can express their thoughts and feelings in a safe, non-judgemental space. My approach often includes involving parents or carers in therapy in some capacity. This may involve you accompanying the child to each session, attending one joint session to understand how you can support your child, or for younger children it can be sessions directly with parents.

I am committed to providing an evidence-based approach to improving mental health and draw from both my solid foundation in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and my further training as a Systemic Family Practitioner. With CBT, we will explore the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours to better understand mental health difficulties. We will focus on identifying and reframing unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours, providing practical tools for managing stress, anxiety, and other emotional struggles. Through systemic family practice we can explore the broader context of your child or young person's relationships and family dynamics, recognising the impact on their wellbeing. Together we can work towards fostering meaningful change and improving relationships in their lives.
