FAQs

Many people have similar questions about therapy. Have a look at the most frequently asked questions below, and please get in touch if you have any further questions and I will be happy to talk through.

Is therapy right for me? Is it the right time?

Deciding to seek therapy is a personal choice, and it is perfectly normal to have questions and uncertainties. Therapy can be a valuable resource for children, young people or families facing a wide range of challenges, from managing stress and anxiety to navigating major life transitions. It can offer a safe, confidential space for a child, young person or parent, to explore their thoughts, emotions and concerns.

Timing is also an important consideration and it is natural to wonder if now if the right moment to begin therapy. The truth is, there's no universal 'perfect' time to start. Whether it's difficulties managing some recent difficulties or perhaps you have been struggling with more long-standing issues, seeking support is a proactive step towards self-improvement and wellbeing.

Where am I based?

I am based in St Albans, Hertfordshire and the clinic offers beautifully furnished contemporary private consultation rooms in a city centre location close to car parks and the city station. The clinic is in a discrete location and offers a comfortable waiting room.

If you do not live within proximity of the St Albans clinic, are unable to get to me or would prefer remote sessions, I can offer video therapy sessions which are completed within the same ethical guidelines.

What are the fees for therapy?

- Initial Assessment Appointment £120 (50 mins)

- Therapeutic session for families £140 (60 mins)

How does patient confidentiality work?

Yes confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. You or your child's discussions with me as a therapist are private, with some exceptions where confidentiality may be breached. If you or your child disclose something that indicates that they are at significant risk of harm to themselves or others, then I will need to discuss with you next steps and who we need to inform to keep the child and/or others safe. I will always discuss with you in the first instance.

Outside of this confidentiality is protected and if working individually with your child or young person, I will only share what they consent to me sharing. This is often tools and strategies that they have found helpful and we can discuss ways you can support them to implement these.
